Hello Kitty Headband
Annd my first project back is a Hello Kitty headband.
Big surprise!
I came across this adorbz costume but it's like $50 and I figured I'd try making it.
At the least I could make the headband.
I remembered to take photos during the process this time so I can actually post a quick and easy tutorial. Character headbands like this are great for when you don't want to wear a full out costume to work or to school. Or just for fun I guess.
If you're feeling REAL ambitious you can always go for this costume
And I also think I'll definitely be making Optimus this little number :D

Back!
It's been forever and a day since I posted last (July 12)
and a lot happened.
I got married. It was fun. Here a couple of photos.
That dress was so heavy I had to change out of it into a little reception dress.
1: husband and I walking into reception
2: newlywed photobooth
3: mom and bro in photobooth
So now that the wedding is over, I have nothing to stress about and will be free to craft and post once again.
I'll do a full wedding post when I have more photos. :)

Mushroom Blog
I made these little mushrooms for my brother and his girlfriend,
and oh my gosh they are so cute that they started a tumblr following these little mushrooms on their journeys around the world. Or Michigan, rather.
Anyway- check out Papaya and Kimchi- the little mushrooms in love.

Wedding Wreaths
After consulting with my mom and her flower friend while in Michigan- the final wedding wreath design was decided on. I am pretty happy with it if I do say so myself.
The felt flower pattern I used is from purl bee's rose barrette pattern,
and I purchased 12 styrofoam wreath bases for only like $30 with shipping from save on crafts. Great site if you are making bulk crafts- The wreaths were like $3.50 each at the craft store. Yay online shopping win!

Yap Wrap
So I was in a little boutique-y pet store the other day and came across these yap wraps.
And I thought they were so cute- but Chevy Chase (my fur baby Rat Terrier) is so broad chested they wouldn't fit him and I was sad.
But then I realized I could make one for him.
I made a prototype last night,
and am working on the finished product but it is pretty spot on.
I can't post a tutorial though, because I'm pretty sure that's infringing on yap's copyright,
but I will say it's pretty easy if you can just take measurements of your doggle where the little velcro straps are. Chevy is HUGE around his tummy and has a tiny little lemon head!

Lotta Jansdotter Checkbook Cover
I've gotten re-acquainted with my sewing machine lately, and took the long holiday weekend to make a few things, including this checkbook cover!! It was my first time making bias tape- and I'm pretty proud of how it turned out.
Overexposed- sorry!
I got the pattern from Lotta Jansdotter's book: Simple Sewing
which has some really easy and great patterns for things around the home.
Next project I want to try from the book is the oven mitts. We burnt through ours. Womp!

Re Styled Skirt
There is this excellent thrift store in the Mission that sells vintage scrap fabric by the pound. $5 for a pound! I decided to turn some of that fabric into skirts, and here is one of them
I started by using an old elastic waistband from some old shorts (read: boxers)
Chevy loves the skirt too. Little dancing queen.
I have made 4 skirts in the last week, and they are fast and fun to sew, and I've spent a total of $7 on all the fabric. Not bad huh?
What do you think? Would you like to see more of these types of posts?

Home pictures
I feel like we didn't utilize our walls in our last home because we knew we weren't going to stay thee long term but this new place is bomb so up on the walls do our things go!
1. wall shelves above my craft/work station 2. vintage map and ikea fabric canvasses (watching the news) 3. wall art above our seating area. (you can still see that guy in the mirror!)
