Look what we got!

The rings!!!!!
I gave them to my mom for safe keeping, but I wanted to wear it wear it wear it so much. I am told though, that wearing the wedding ring before the wedding is bad luck.

I'm back in SF now and glad to be- it was COLD in Michigan. Geez. But we did accomplish a whole lot. Picked a venue, and a date: SEPTEMBER 23RD.
Now the real countdown begins I suppose.
241 days to go.
It sounds like a lot- but it really isn't. We've still got a ton to do. But it WILL get done!

Baby Pics

I'm hanging out in Michigan with my family and my future in laws and my mom of course did the obligatory baby picture fest for the fiancĂ©. Look at what I found!!! It's baby me!!!

Some of them were so funny I couldn't stop laughing- and the outfits I wore! My mom insists that I picked some of them out but I don't believe her.

Anyway. Thought I'd share this chubby cheeked joy.

My DIY Pocketfold Invitations

If you haven't seen me mention that I have a strict, self imposed wedding budget- then here it is. I have a strict, self imposed wedding budget. I refuse to spend a ridiculous amount of money on one day- and so I've been planning lots of DIY projects.

I've been hitting up all the wedding blogs and trying to keep up but ultimately the wedding is going to be our own and so it's up to us to set the tone. We're both creative people so we're trying to do as much ourselves as we can.

So that brings me to invitations which, are surprisingly easy to do yourself. Mr. Rockit is an Illustrator/Photoshop Genius so we are creating our own templates and printing them out on cardstock bought at the craft store. I received a $100 gift card to Joann Fabrics which was the perfect gift- because that's $100 less I have to spend supplies. We spend about $50 of my gift card on the supplies and paper so far. Not bad.

I found a ton of tutorials online about how to do pocketfold invites on the cheap, and decided to do the first photo which you can do with 8.5 x 11 cardstock. Disregard that color and typeface- we're doing something different, but the template is great and cute. The card folds up to be about 5 x 7 which fits a regular greeting card envelope. The second image is my inspiration for the yarn added onto the paper. So here are some pictures below of my progress.
Just gettin' started on these babies.
. We're making it our own by adding personal touches like the button closures and the yarn across the top of the inserts. I got some supplies- like my fiskars paper trimmer thing which helps me cut straight lines- and a little edge rounder punch, and a paper scorer thing.
The sweet little button closures were Mr. Rockit's idea- they are going to take a really long time to put on so I'm still debating them but they're just so adorable I think I may just have to do it.
If I don't do the button closures I'm considering just tying a little yarn bow around the invite.. what do you think?

Anyway, I'm pretty proud of them so far- I have a hundred and some more to make, but I'm starting super early so hopefully a little bit here and there will be enough to get the job done.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!
I'm excited to not work on Monday for MLK day,
and then have a two day week next week because after that we're going to
MICHIGAN!

Okay it's not that exciting but I get to see my parents and my future in laws, so it'll be a happy reunion time.
And we've got tons of wedding stuff to get done.

WOW are weddings expensive. Trying to budget and it's proving slightly *understatement* stressful.
Here's one DIY I really want to do.

In order to save some money on decorations/flowers, I figured I could make some of these pretty things to toss on the tables. Mr. Rockit calls it "layering".
You can find the tutorial here

I'm really trying to save some money and make some in the meantime. One really awesome thing is that our friends who did our engagement photos have offered to shoot the wedding for free which is AMAZING. What awesome friends we have! I'm still trying to sell stuff, but fellow crafters and bloggers... Etsy is not easy. I need to sell something on there! Any tips? Advice? I think I need help!

Little Mushrooms!

Two new additions to my etsy shop- and I reworked some pricing on the existing items too!
Pricing is really difficult- if you price too low people will think it's tgtbt and if you price too high no one will buy!

I made a ton of these little guys, but I just put these two up- I'll put about 3-4 more up in different colors by the end of the week.

So take a look at my little friends :)
