My ridiculous sweater

So even though I proclaim to be a sew-er / crafter. There are still moments like THIS, 

when I don't feel like simply sewing and instead I STAPLE my sweater together. 

Would you be interested in a tutorial showing you how I did that? I'd be happy to provide one if you are curious to know how I magically repaired this sweater with staples.

Also happy 71st anniversary to one of my all time favorite movies, THE WIZARD OF OZ!!!

That's a movie I pop in all the time when I feel like mellowing out with some yarn or felt.

I just love the moral of the story. No matter what happens, it's your family that comes first, and really: There's no place like home! And Judy Garland is priceless. What's your favorite number from this movie? Mine is probably the Cowardly Lion song just because I like his ridiculous singing voice.

I watched Monsters VS. Aliens yesterday and was inspired to make a mini Mothra based on the cute Insectasaurus creature in the movie.

Cupcake

I got some really great felt at renegade so I tried making a cupcake. It looks more phallic than confectionary, but it's a prototype.

Sorry. I have a 2G iPhone so the pictures are horrible. Anyway. I'll be working on the perfect cupcake. 

Edit: As I was scheduling this to post, Optimus (my maine coone/ norweigan forest cat) stole the cupcake and ran off with it. Now it smells weird. :(

Renegade

Renegade Craft fair was great this weekend. I met some awesome vendors, including a couple of chicas whose blogs I follow!

Elsie from A Beautiful Mess!

There's always this strange awkward creepiness when I meet people I've seen online. I'm not normally a shy person but when I admit to someone I have cyber stalked them and know way too much about them, it gets weird. I got shy and ran away after this picture. This is not my first real life meeting with a cyber person though.

I met Angela from Oiyi's crafts in Brooklyn at a fair once too. It wasn't weird at all because she had done some cyber stalking of her own and it was so funny. Like a blind date almost. I was like oh your little girl is adorable and she was like your cats are so cute. After that I knitted with her knitting group a couple of times too so it was pretty cool!

I met several other people whose work I'd seen online and it was great to put a name and face to their art. Some people like Elsie were gracious and sweet, and some- well - some were not! The craft world is a small world though, and everyone has seen everything it seems like. 

It also takes a level of comfort to be the blogger and to disclose bits of your life with total strangers. The nice thing is when these strangers stop being strangers and become your friends. It takes a lot of trust to put everything out there for the world to see.

Verameat: Had the cutest affenpinscher at the booth, and some beautiful jewelry.

Drew Morrison: Amazing illustrations, I didn't buy anything but think maybe I will online.

Ach Ach Liebling: Really great and hand crafted jewelry. I bought a set of dagger earrings.

Handmade Whimsy: "fanciful trinkets and textiles"

aroostudio: Cute pet stuff! ALSO had the SWEETEST beagle pup who I fell in love with.

Raw Toast Design: Great illustrations and graphics. My friend got a great boston terrier print

Sweet Penelope: Grabbed this card for wedding invites!

Bad Blogger!

Sorry I haven't updated lately! I've been crazy busy at work and in life.
Wedding planning hasn't REALLY started yet, but it's going to be a rough ride, I can tell that much already. My band got into a battle of the bands and we are performing on August 4th at the Great American Music Hall! Yay!

Doors doors doors!

Our apartment is FILLED with doors. Door to the living room door to the office door to the bedroom and to the closet and out again into the hall- it gets confusing to our guests! So we made signs :).
