Typewriters

My dad had this great typewriter that I used to use before the dawn of computers. Remember that? Maybe? We had that perforated paper. Sometimes if you pressed more than one key it would get stuck and you'd have to gently pull down the letters. I remember being so fascinated by the whole concept of erase. That little white strip of ink that would magically erase your letters!

Anyway. These are dedicated to typewriters, and I wish my daddy had kept his.

This glorious color found here

This looked more like my Dad's. But smaller.

I love this color and shape. It looks almost like a Pixar character.

And I'm spent. It's hard looking for photos sometimes. Really. It is.

Weekly List of Things I Want But Probably Won't Buy

So the name "lust list" is taken, so I can't copy that- so I changed the name to the very catchy "weekly list of things I want but probably won't buy".

This is called "In Yo' Lace"

I want a 50s style bathing suit SO BAD.

I tried this on in the store and liked it, but it's $118 so I didn't buy it. Because I'm CHEAP, not because I'm poor. :) There is a difference! It's from JCREW.

Can you believe it's already the end of August? I can't believe it either. One year ago I started this blog and I was in FLORIDA. What was I doing there? Who knows, I basically just vacationed there for two months- with a few weeks of work to help my boredom. Man it was HOT. Anyway. Mr. Rockit and I have come a long way, and I'm pretty happy with where we are.

Destination Wedding

We have decided on a destination wedding.
Most likely spot- Cabo San Lucas. :)

We just didn't want to think about so many details and so many crazy things about getting married in my hometown, and we always dreamed of a smaller more intimate wedding. What do you think?

My unwise outfit

So I wear things on the weekend that I don't normally wear during the week, just because I can, and because it's fun to dress differently once in awhile. I made an unwise outfit choice this past weekend though. I put this outfit on and thought to myself that I looked cute and fun, but didn't even think about how it would be perceived to the outside world. I'll tell you how I looked to the outside world. Like a ho.

I learned this by walking around in SF's Mission district before getting my hair cut, and subsequently getting honked at, cat called, and whistled at. I did not appreciate this, and though flattering at first, you start to feel really dirty after the 3rd and 4th times. My fiancĂ© just laughed at me.

I asked Mr. Rockit why he didn't tell me my outfit was so distractingly risque, and he equated it to having a child that's like I WANT TO WEAR PAJAMAS! and being so excited about it, you can't tell them not to. So he let me out of the house looking like a tramp. Apparently.

Anyway, here is the outfit. (sort of) Tell me what you think? I still don't understand what made it so scandalous. I think it may be the high socks. Either way, I'm only wearing this outfit in the Castro from now on.

Book Review: The Handmade Marketplace

Reading this book by Kari Chapin right now and it's really great. It has a lot of great tips and tricks for the online marketing and handmade crafting industry. I definitely recommend this read if you are interested in making your hobby more than just a hobby- or even if you just need tips to make your blog/etsy shop get more hits. I need more hits. HIT ME.

I also have had this book for a bit, and it's another great read that's pretty self explanatory. Turn that creative hobby into a business!

My parents have owned their own business for awhile and I asked my mom for some advice and hers was to not do it. !!! It's a lot of hard work to build a business by yourself, but I think it's worth it. In the end. I mean I'm not off the ground yet even, but just making one sale was exciting. !!

OOH

Got a haircut.
Can't really see it. But it's cool.

Made a bow-tie for Derronasaurus also.

Now everyone tell me how much you love my hair and my bow tie for Derronasaurus.

BOWS

While waiting for breakfast on Saturday morning I made...
BOWS!!!!

Do the bow dance. I'm going to make a bunch and put them on Etsy. Maybe. How much would you pay for a bow? $5?

Photoshop and Dinosaurs

Mr. Rockit recently installed Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator on my computer, and I'm in love. I know that I am SUPER late to this game, but I had no idea what I was missing before. I can put myself in ANY PICTURE! ahahah. So you might see some ridiculous pictures up on this blog coming up.

Also, I've been commissioned by a dear friend to paint a picture of a dinosaur. Which is great because I love dinosaurs.

Upon google searching (my fave thing ever) dinosaur I came up with some interesting images.

Exhibit A: Super Scary Dinosaur.

Exhibit B: Ridiculously cute baby in a dinosaur costume

Exhibit C: A large Brontosaurus type creature in a farm field next to a silo.

But I don't know if anything can top..

some of her tracks include:
Swinging on A Swing
Nya Nya Nya
Lettuce Sing

and my all time favorite
Bucket of Dew I Paddy Condon From Cobar

What type of dinosaur is your favorite? Mine is obviously Dorothy.

My ridiculous sweater

So even though I proclaim to be a sew-er / crafter. There are still moments like THIS,
when I don't feel like simply sewing and instead I STAPLE my sweater together.
Would you be interested in a tutorial showing you how I did that? I'd be happy to provide one if you are curious to know how I magically repaired this sweater with staples.

100th post!

Happy 100th post to MEEEEEE.

Also happy 71st anniversary to one of my all time favorite movies, THE WIZARD OF OZ!!!
That's a movie I pop in all the time when I feel like mellowing out with some yarn or felt.

Go on Google.com! I love google's special banners, I really do.

I just love the moral of the story. No matter what happens, it's your family that comes first, and really: There's no place like home! And Judy Garland is priceless. What's your favorite number from this movie? Mine is probably the Cowardly Lion song just because I like his ridiculous singing voice.

And here are his little butterfly wings

I can't find my camera. So they are more cell phone shots. Sowwie.

ALSO, We won Battle of the Bands! Yay us!

(I skillfully photoshopped Jeff in because he got kicked out before we won)

Cupcake

I got some really great felt at renegade so I tried making a cupcake. It looks more phallic than confectionary, but it's a prototype.
Sorry. I have a 2G iPhone so the pictures are horrible. Anyway. I'll be working on the perfect cupcake.

Edit: As I was scheduling this to post, Optimus (my maine coone/ norweigan forest cat) stole the cupcake and ran off with it. Now it smells weird. :(

Renegade

Renegade Craft fair was great this weekend. I met some awesome vendors, including a couple of chicas whose blogs I follow!

Elsie from A Beautiful Mess!

There's always this strange awkward creepiness when I meet people I've seen online. I'm not normally a shy person but when I admit to someone I have cyber stalked them and know way too much about them, it gets weird. I got shy and ran away after this picture. This is not my first real life meeting with a cyber person though.

I met Angela from Oiyi's crafts in Brooklyn at a fair once too. It wasn't weird at all because she had done some cyber stalking of her own and it was so funny. Like a blind date almost. I was like oh your little girl is adorable and she was like your cats are so cute. After that I knitted with her knitting group a couple of times too so it was pretty cool!

I met several other people whose work I'd seen online and it was great to put a name and face to their art. Some people like Elsie were gracious and sweet, and some- well - some were not! The craft world is a small world though, and everyone has seen everything it seems like.

It also takes a level of comfort to be the blogger and to disclose bits of your life with total strangers. The nice thing is when these strangers stop being strangers and become your friends. It takes a lot of trust to put everything out there for the world to see.

Here are some great vendors that I met and liked! Not all of course, but those whose cards I took.
Tinted Mint: Really cute paper products/ ribbon tape!
Verameat: Had the cutest affenpinscher at the booth, and some beautiful jewelry.
Drew Morrison: Amazing illustrations, I didn't buy anything but think maybe I will online.
SEIBEI: Awesome dinosaur tees and my favorite "I'm fat let's party"
Ach Ach Liebling: Really great and hand crafted jewelry. I bought a set of dagger earrings.
Handmade Whimsy: "fanciful trinkets and textiles"
aroostudio: Cute pet stuff! ALSO had the SWEETEST beagle pup who I fell in love with.
Raw Toast Design: Great illustrations and graphics. My friend got a great boston terrier print
Sweet Penelope: Grabbed this card for wedding invites!

The affenpinscher. If you don't know what an affenpinscher is. You should.
